Catalonia.health is a beneficiary of regional, national and European public funds allocated to the execution of projects aligned with the axes of the Strategic Plan and the association's objectives. A key lever for expanding the reach of initiatives, strengthening the cluster's capacity and generating real impact across Catalonia's healthtech and life sciences ecosystem.
The projects we participate in respond to specific sector challenges: internationalisation, knowledge transfer, business innovation, access to funding and strengthening of the health value chain. In many cases, they are carried out in collaboration with European and international partners, reinforcing the global projection of Catalonia.health and its member companies.
Below you will find the active and completed projects in which Catalonia.health participates or has participated as a beneficiary or partner.
AYRA is an industrial research project in digital health that connects indoor air quality —temperature, humidity, pollutants, and particles— with the clinical monitoring of pediatric patients.

After an initial phase focused on technological development and a first pilot of home hospitalization, the project is now entering its Phase 2, facing new challenges:
→ A mobile app for patients and families to visualize environmental data and receive personalized real-time recommendations.
→ An expanded case-control study with 20–30 children suffering from chronic respiratory conditions.
→ AI models that correlate domestic environmental data with clinical indicators to generate predictions and support medical decision-making.
→ Environmental impact indexes applicable as indicators of pediatric public health.
The goal is clear: to anticipate risk episodes, reduce hospitalizations, and place useful tools in the hands of families.
AYRA aims to be a transferable model — an example of how collaboration between technology, clinical practice, and the broader ecosystem can transform the care model into one that is more preventive, personalized, and data-driven.

The RISEMED4EU Project (Regional Innovation for Smart Ecosystems in Health and Medicine in the EU) is an initiative that brings together eight regions from eight European countries with the goal of driving innovation in health and personalized medicine through interregional collaboration and advanced technology.
RISEMED4EU brings together responsible policy authorities, government entities, industry leaders, and high-level knowledge institutions from Limburg (The Netherlands), Helsinki-Uusimaa (Finland), Saxony-Anhalt (Germany), Western Slovenia, North-East Romania, Emilia-Romagna (Italy), Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Catalonia.
The project addresses the critical need for innovation policies to achieve a more efficient, evidence-based healthcare system, fostering innovation through applications of digital health, sensors, and other tools.
Catalonia.Health’s participation in this European initiative strengthens its role as an authoritative voice and key reference for the Catalan health sector at the international level. The organization’s ability to provide a cross-cutting perspective of the ecosystem helps identify emerging trends and generate strategic intelligence that benefits the entire industry.
Engagement in European projects of this scale enables access to new funding instruments, the exchange of best practices, and the development of public-private collaborations that accelerate the transfer of knowledge and technology to the market.
