The Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP), member of Catalonia.health, celebrated on June 18 a new edition of the Innomed Awards, a day aimed at promoting biomedical innovation projects and strengthening the connection between research, the health system, entrepreneurship and investment. The event took place in the auditorium of the Josep Carreras Institute (IJC) on the Can Ruti Campus and brought together professionals from research, health, entrepreneurship and investment.
Three years of Innomed and GrowInn
The day also served to take stock of the first three years of GrowInn, the Innomed program's project incubator. Since its launch, seven institutions have participated, 45 innovative projects have been incubated and more than 150 professionals have been supported. The program has organized 25 training sessions with more than 100 hours of training given by experts from different fields, and has mobilized 85,000 euros in prizes and specialized services to contribute to the development and enhancement of participating initiatives.
Innomed has the participation of the Josep Carreras Leukemia Research Institute (IJC), the Maresme Health Consortium (CSdM), the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital (HUGTiP), the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), IrsiCaixa, the Guttmann Institute and the IGTP itself.
Presentation of 15 projects and session on attracting investment
One of the central moments of the event was the presentation of the 15 participating projects in the new edition of GrowInn, aimed at initiatives with transfer potential and impact on health. Previously, Francisco Badia, partner at Grow Venture Partners, gave a session on how to prepare to attract investment in the initial stages, focusing on the aspects that investors value in early stage projects and on the main challenges and recommendations for facing a first round of investment.

Of the 15 participating projects, seven have been recognized by the Innomed Awards for their innovative potential and capacity for impact, each with an award that includes services valued at 5,000 euros offered by the sponsoring entities:

Statements of those responsible
Raül Zurita, Director of Innovation at the IGTP, has emphasized that Innomed allows innovation to work from the first stages, helping teams to better structure their projects and prepare them to move towards transfer. Zurita emphasized that, after three years of history, the program continues to grow as a space for collaboration between institutions and for connecting with the entrepreneurial ecosystem and investors in health.
