CONNECTA Therapeutics, a clinical-stage biotechnology company pioneering the development of first-in-class neuroplasticity modulators to address unmet medical needs in Central Nervous System (CNS) disorders, has closed a €3.1 million financing round led by new investor Clave Capital through its Innvierte Science Tech Clave Innohealth, F.C.R. fund, with support from the company's existing investors, Inveready, CDTI Innvierte, and Prous Institute for Biomedical Research.
These funds will drive the development of CTH120 in adult men with Fragile X syndrome (FXS), currently in Phase IIa (NCT07654114). Jordi Fàbrega, co-founder and CEO of CONNECTA Therapeutics, comments: "This financing is a significant milestone for CONNECTA and supports our efforts to advance the development of CTH120 for FXS. We believe the Phase IIa results, expected in mid-2027, will represent an important step forward in demonstrating CTH120's potential to address the biological mechanisms of this rare disease and improve the quality of life of patients with FXS."
Backed by preclinical evidence and Phase I safety data (NCT06480968), the Phase IIa study, initiated in June 2026, evaluates the safety, tolerability, and efficacy of CTH120 in 30 randomized adult men with FXS. The trial is being conducted at the Hospital del Mar Research Institute (HMRIB) and the Institut d'Investigació i Innovació Fundació Parc Taulí (I3PT), and will contribute to advancing biomarker identification in collaboration with the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG). The study is funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities and the European Union's NextGenerationEU program (project reference: CPP2022-009659). In addition, CONNECTA is preparing to develop CTH120 in pediatric patients through the FRAXCURE project.
Ignacio Prieto Fernández, investment associate at Clave Capital, explains: "CONNECTA has developed an innovative approach to addressing neuroplasticity in FXS, backed by a clear clinical development strategy and an experienced team. The company has achieved important progress with CTH120 through Phase IIa, and we will support the team in reaching the next milestone."
Sara Secall, general partner at Inveready, adds: "As investors since the seed stage, we have accompanied CONNECTA through the progress of CTH120, from a promising scientific proposal to clinical development. Our participation through our most recent fund, BIO Fund IV, reflects the confidence we continue to place in the team, their strategy, and the potential impact of the upcoming clinical milestones."
As part of this financing, Ignacio Prieto Fernández will join CONNECTA's Board of Directors as Clave Capital's representative.
