Asabys Partners, a venture capital firm specialized in life sciences and a member of Catalonia.health, has been selected in the Innvierte Deep Start call, promoted by the Center for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI) in collaboration with the European Investment Fund (FEI), within the framework of Spain's National Deep Tech Strategy 2026-2030.

As a result of this selection, Asabys launches Asabys Innvierte Tech Transfer FCRE, a new fund that could reach 120 million euros and which aims to promote the creation and development of innovative companies in biotechnology and medical technologies.

A new strategic vertical

This vehicle represents the beginning of a new strategic vertical for the firm, which already has two active funds - among them the Sabadell Asabys II (vintage 2023), with ten investees - and which integrates the management of the Alta Life Sciences fund from October 2025.

The new fund will be managed by a team of seven professionals, with three joint partners: Emilio Erazo-Fischer, Montserrat Vendrell and a third partner, for the time being confidential. It will be supported by the global Asabys team, made up of 18 people and expected to reach 20 before the summer.

Technology transfer and company creation

Asabys Partners manages nearly 400 million euros in assets and has 23 investees. Since its inception in 2018, it has worked with universities, hospitals and research centers to create academic spin-off companies such as Ona Therapeutics, Inbrain Neuroelectronics, Nuage Therapeutics, OrikineBio and ALLOX.

The new fund kicks off with an active pipeline of opportunities incorporating technologies such as artificial intelligence, supercomputing, synthetic biology and new therapeutic materials. The aim is to help attract talent, generate qualified employment and turn scientific research into impactful solutions for patients.
