Sysmex Spain, a leading company specialising in healthcare technology and in vitro diagnostics, announces the move of its Spanish headquarters to a new space at SID Barcelona, the private science and innovation ecosystem in the city’s metropolitan area. SID Barcelona is a Catalonia.health member. Until now, Sysmex was based in the Barcelona-area town of Sant Just Desvern.
With growth above 20% over the last two fiscal years, the Spanish subsidiary has positioned itself as one of the most dynamic within the Sysmex Group in Europe. The change of headquarters responds to the rapid evolution of the business in Spain, the ambition to be part of a scientific ecosystem with first-class infrastructure, and the company’s commitment to providing an optimal working environment that supports the wellbeing of its team, with a modern and sustainable design.
Peter Georgi, Managing Director of Sysmex Iberia, says: “With more than 15 years in Spain and a consolidated position in the healthcare technology sector, this is the moment to evolve and adapt to the future challenges of the business. The new headquarters is an investment in our ability to innovate, collaborate and continue offering the best service to our customers. We are confident that it will be a meeting point for customers, healthcare professionals, partners and our teams: a space to strengthen our relationships with all of them and keep working together to transform clinical diagnostics.”
A space designed for innovation and collaboration
Sysmex Spain’s new headquarters is located in Sant Joan Despí and covers 1,300 m², a notable increase in space to bring together the nearly 200 professionals the company currently employs in Spain.
With advice from BNP Paribas Real Estate on the search, and design and construction by Korus Group, the facilities have been conceived to strengthen the wellbeing and teamwork that define the Sysmex model, fostering collaboration between teams, continuous training, the development of diagnostics-related projects and relationships with customers and partners.
In connection with that last point, the new headquarters will include a 200 m² Experience Center: a space designed specifically for technology demonstrations, promoting collaboration and training healthcare professionals and partners in the use of Sysmex solutions. The Experience Center is equipped with the latest Sysmex solutions and innovative technology, including haematology, haemostasis, urinalysis, clinical flow cytometry and oncology equipment.
Choosing SID Barcelona places Sysmex alongside leading companies, research centres and organisations in health and life sciences, within a 75,000 m² environment that brings together more than 2,500 professionals and combines laboratories, corporate offices and spaces designed to meet the needs of knowledge-intensive companies.
“For SID Barcelona, Sysmex’s arrival is another step in consolidating an ecosystem able to attract leading international companies in health, science and technology. Sysmex’s new headquarters reflects the kind of projects we want to promote: spaces that combine infrastructure, connectivity, sustainability and wellbeing to support the growth of this type of company. We are convinced that its presence will add value to the campus and strengthen the connection between companies, talent and innovation,” says Javier de Pablo, co-CEO of SID.
Sustainability and wellbeing, inside and outside the office
In line with the company’s global sustainability strategy, which is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the LEED Platinum certification of the SID Barcelona Headquarters, the building housing Sysmex’s new office, was a key factor in choosing this space, as energy efficiency, flexible spaces, natural light and people’s wellbeing are a priority for the company.
In addition, the campus offers green areas, wellbeing-oriented services, connectivity with key infrastructure and sustainability criteria in the design and management of its different spaces, reinforcing a working environment aligned with Sysmex’s responsibility in this area.
With this move, Sysmex begins a new stage of growth in Spain, strengthening its proximity to the scientific and healthcare ecosystem and consolidating a space ready to drive innovation, collaboration and excellence in clinical diagnostics in the years ahead.
