Catalonia.health congratulates IBEC on its 20th anniversary

Marta Herrera,

On 21 October, the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) celebrated its 20th anniversary with an institutional event at the Auditorium of the Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona. The managing director of Catalonia.health, Laura Iglesias, attended the celebration, which brought together more than 100 people, including government representatives, former directors of the centre and IBEC researchers.

Founded in 2005 by the Government of Catalonia, the UB and the UPC, IBEC today brings together more than 400 people and 26 research groups. The event included a lecture by Xavier Trepat, ICREA Research Professor, and a round table with six key figures in the centre’s history. Its director, Manuel Salmeron, summed up the spirit of the day: “We celebrate what we have achieved, but above all what we still have left to do.”

At Catalonia.health, we would like to congratulate the whole IBEC team on these twenty years of bioengineering at the service of health, and we wish them every success in the years to come.

You can read the full report of the event on the IBEC website.
