CataloniaBio & HealthTech is organizing the fifth CEO Council session this 2023. On this occasion, the guest is Javier Ponce, currently general director of the CDTI.

Following the line of the last four editions, with Antón Costas, Boi Ruiz, Núria Mas and Xavier Prats as guests, the aim of this fifth CEO Council is to present the policies that promote the retention and competitiveness of Spanish companies, as well as sharing knowledge in the field of innovation policies, as well as in technological competitiveness for the healthcare sector.

Javier Ponce is an Industrial Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the Business Institute and Diploma in European Communities from the Diplomatic School.

He began his work in 1986 as a grantee and later as a contracted researcher at the CSIC (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas). He later worked as a Design Engineer and then as Head of the Microelectronics Laboratory of the AMPER telecommunications group.

In 1992 he joined the CDTI as a Technician in International Management, being the Spanish Delegate to the European Union for R&D Programs during the Marco III and IV programs. In the CDTI he has held several positions: Head of the Office of the Spanish Presidency of the Eureka International Program of technological cooperation, Head of the studies and promotion department of the CDTI, Director of Operational Management and Secretary of the Board of Directors of the CDTI.

Between 2012 and 2018, until his appointment as Director General, he coordinated and directed the global economic and financial management of the CDTI as well as the capital investment policy of technological companies, being, in addition, advisor to the public company of investment INVIERTE.

What are CEO Councils?

CEO Councils are small-group talks with members of the boards of directors of start-ups and companies from CataloniaBio & HealthTech, where a prestigious expert or business or political leader is invited to share experiences and strategic perspectives for companies.

These sessions were first held in 2017, when Catalonia already had a consolidated business community and an ever-growing network of entrepreneurs in the life sciences and health.In addition to presenting topics of interest, CEO Councils also help strengthen the relationships of this invaluable group for the ecosystem.
