What resources do we have to protect health innovation? CataloniaBio & HealthTech, through the Internal Innovation Committee, is organizing an online seminar on industrial secrets as an alternative to patents to protect innovation in companies in the health sector.

The 2016 EU Trade Secrets Directive has unified and strengthened the protection of trade secrets, providing legal tools and remedies similar to other intellectual property rights. However, the Directive also sets out requirements that must be met in order to qualify for trade secret protection. We also look at the pros and cons of trade secret protection versus patent protection, such as enforceability and a company's own freedom to operate.

The webinar will be hosted by Tobias Steins, partner of Hoffmann Eitle, member of CataloniaBio & HealthTech. Steins is a specialist in patent litigation for over 15 years representing clients predominantly in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and electronics fields.
