The Parliament of Catalonia has approved, with no votes against, a motion urging the Government to allocate €7 million in 2027 to support Catalan industrial clusters. The clusters are asking for the funding to be made available during the first half of 2027, so that the resources can be deployed swiftly.
Catalonia.health is one of the 28 clusters accredited by ACCIÓ, which together bring together more than 3,200 companies and associated organisations and account for 36% of Catalonia’s industrial turnover. Their cluster managers went to Parliament to highlight the strategic role of clusters in business competitiveness, reindustrialisation and the creation of quality jobs.
The agreement is a step towards consolidating a clusters policy in which Catalonia was a pioneer more than three decades ago, and it brings the level of support closer to that of benchmark regions such as the Basque Country and Flanders.
Eloi Montcada, cluster manager of INNOVI, the Catalan Wine Cluster, summed it up: “It is now important that this institutional support translates into stable resources.” Such a boost would make it possible to step up projects in innovation, internationalisation, talent, digital transformation and the adoption of artificial intelligence.
