From CATALONIA.HEALTH we wish you a happy 2025, very especially to the more than 240 members, as well as to the companies and collaborating organisations and health professionals who have accompanied us during this year. We hope you continue with us in 2025!

At the end of the year, it is time to look back to review and share the main milestones and all that we have achieved in 2024. A year in which we have continued to grow alongside our members, with more activities, more involvement on the part of members, more effort to promote the health sector in Catalonia, maintaining the meetings and trainings to strengthen the ecosystem.

New areas of interest

This year, 2024, two new internal committees have started working focused on Talent and Shared Value, two topics on which the members had pointed out the need to work as a necessity in the health sector in Catalonia. Both were launched just before the summer and join the three that had already been active for some time: the Internal Committees on Innovation, Digital and Business Development. The committees currently involve 66 members representing 49 member companies of the association, constituting a high participation of companies and knowledge agents of the association.

In the area of innovation we have promoted seminars to cover topics of interest, including a Lessons Learned dedicated to innovative public procurement. In 2024 we also held two Hospital Connection sessions, with Hospital Sant Joan de Déu Barcelona and with ICS Girona and the Institut d’Assistència Sanitària. We have shared resources and information on local and European funding, for example through two sessions to update the status of the Next Generation calls for proposals.

The business development committee has been responsible for raising many issues on the table, such as the medtech market access, knowledge of international markets, risk management in biotech companies, M&A as a way of growth in the sector, review of regulatory aspects and access to market analysis databases. In the field of digital health, growth has continued, not only in the activities proposed, but also in the participation of other initiatives within the sector to strengthen the network.

And, although the committees had not yet been set up, 2024 also included talent activities, on the recruitment keys or to find out about recruitment aid programmes. As well as shared value, with a joint initiative with the bioenergy cluster, focused on alternative energies with large industry in mind.

Major events and new initiatives

Not everything that has happened at CATALONIA.HEALTH can be summed up in just a few paragraphs, but we cannot leave out the major events. More than 300 people attended the Nit, which awarded Astra Zeneca and WiviVision with the Bioèxit, an award that has celebrated 10 years. And up to 600 people gathered at the Specipig headquarters for the most important event of the summer in the health sector in Catalonia: the BBQ. A very special BBQ because it was the place chosen to present the new brand of the association, to reflect the dimension that the association has acquired since its inception. Thus, from 2024 onwards, CataloniaBio & HealthTech is CATALONIA.HEALTH!

The second edition of Connection Day was held on 2024, which doubled the space and participation figures, where we also presented the Study on investment in the health sector in Catalonia in 2023, a document promoted by CataloniaBio & Healthtech, together with EY.

We did not forget the CEO Council, focused mainly on economic matters. We had as guests Oriol Pinya, Raquel Yotti, Vanessa Servera, Josep Maria Argimon and Elisabeth Stampa. And the Unconference, this year focused on AI, brought together more than 120 professionals and has established itself as a reference point for the debate on the future of health.

There has still been time to promote new activities, such as the first open days during the week of Dia de l’Empresa, to promote the visibility of companies in the sector.

In terms of activities alone, we have organised more than 30 activities with more than 2,100 attendees in total. We have also shared more than 150 news of milestones achieved by members and we have more than 42,500 followers on social networks (X and Linkedin). 2025 awaits us with new challenges and new proposals to continue working to increase the competitiveness of the health sector, we hope to have the same support and collaboration of all members.
