CATALONIA.HEALTH organises the first CEO Council session in 2025, with Ignasi Belda as the special guest. Belda is currently the General Director of the Spanish National Agency for Artificial Intelligence Oversight (AESIA), the Spanish government agency responsible for the supervision, advice, awareness, and training aimed at public and private entities for the proper implementation of all national and European regulations around the use and development of AI systems.

Ignasi Belda is a professional in the management of AI-based and science-based companies and organisations that has received numerous awards for his management and innovation activities, including the Princess of Girona 2024 Award and the Catalyst Award by the American Academy of Medicine in 2020. Belda has founded six international companies and for two years directed the Barcelona Science Park.

In parallel to these activities, Belda has received training in business administration, finance, economics, accounting, and taxes by the University of Cambridge and the Open University of Catalonia. He also has two doctorates, one in AI applied to life sciences and another in science and technology law.

What are CEO Councils?  

CEO Councils are small group talks with members of the boards of directors of start-ups and companies from CATALONIA.HEALTH, where a prestigious expert or business or political leader is invited to share experiences and strategic perspectives for companies.  

These sessions were first held in 2017, when Catalonia already had a consolidated business community and an ever-growing network of entrepreneurs in the life sciences and health.In addition to presenting topics of interest, CEO Councils also help strengthen the relationships of this invaluable group for the ecosystem.
