Deep tech startup Pharmacelera grows in Europe and lands in the United States

Comunicació,

The startup Pharmacelera, a member of CataloniaBio & HealthTech, will open a branch in the United States in early 2023 with the help of an investor from Silicon Valley. Its goal is to focus on this market as a strategic area to multiply its sales by 5 in the next 3 years.

The company has developed and patented the PharmScreen® platform, which allows the identification of candidate molecules not explored by existing technologies to improve the productivity of pharmaceutical R&D in the early stages of drug discovery. Pharmacelera licenses the platform to biotech companies, R&D departments in the pharmaceutical industry, CROs and public research centres. Now, the company is moving towards an important capital increase of €1M, led by a major Silicon Valley investor, complemented by an equity crowdfunding campaign at Capital Cell.

To accelerate its expansion plans, Pharmacelera incorporated Woody Sherman as its strategic advisor, with more than 20 years of experience in computational chemistry for drug design and fundraising in Massachusetts, and Rémy Hoffmann as its new Director of Business Development and Sales, with more than 25 years of commercial experience in the sector.

Capital increase of 1 M€

Pharmacelera is currently preparing a €1 million capital increase, led by a major investor from Silicon Valley in the United States, complemented by an equity crowdfunding campaign through Capital Cell.

This is the company's second round of funding, after having successfully completed a first €1m equity crowdfunding campaign in 2021 through the same investment platform, exceeding its initial target of €800,000.

Since its creation in 2015, Pharmacelera has raised €3.7m in public and private funds. Behind the company there is a multidisciplinary team of 20 professionals, headed by co-founders Enric Gibert (CEO), Enric Herrero (CTO) and Javier Luque (CSO); and an international advisory board, with experts such as Manel López (ex Almirall), Albert Zamora, Joan Bigorra and Mariana Vaschetto.
