The technological center Eurecatmember of CataloniaBio & HealthTech, presented this week at the Mobile World Congress an assistive robot that helps people at home with daily tasks. The robot can engage in conversation and providing personalized assistance to users based on monitoring their health or mood offering, for example, guidance related to an exercise routine.

The robot uses advancements in generative artificial intelligence to enable complex interactions between people and robots, "facilitating understanding, engaging in open dialogues with natural language, as well as displaying expressiveness, emotions, and reasoning to dynamically adjust its behavior," explains Magí Dalmau, head of the Cognitive Robotics Line at Eurecat.

Connected health solutions

The solution has been developed within the framework of the NHoA project, which stands for Never Home Alone, framed in the field of assistive robotics. It aims to interact in a socially intelligent manner to build an emotional relationship with the user and contribute to increasing the quality and independence of users lives, particularly for individuals with special needs.

In this context, "the robot performs remote health monitoring and cognitive and physical stimulation to maintain and improve healthy lifestyle habits through reminders for medication and a healthy diet, early detection of physical and cognitive decline or boredom, and proposing appropriate interventions," emphasizes Daniel Serrano, director of the Robotics and Automation Unit at Eurecat.
