CATALONIA.HEALTH companies in a private public consortium to develop the 4D-Bioskin project

Comunicació,

A consortium made up of a group of private and public companies work together to develop the 4D-Bioskin project. Within this group of companies are Bioremthe pharmaceutical company Reig JofreUniversity of Barcelona and Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR)all members of CATALONIA.HEALTH

The project focuses on optimizing cell growth and bioink development protocolsevaluating the feasibility of industrialization and marketing of biofabrication, establishing the digitization of the process to enhance scaling, and achieving the validation of bioimpression skin tissues to be used in clinical trials.

“The 4D-Bioskin project is the seed for research, development and industrial development of innovative tissue engineering therapies that will enhance the economy of Spain and the recognition and biomedical leadership of Spain at an international level,” explains Dr. Josep M. Canals, director of Creatio, the Centre for the Production and Validation of Advanced Therapies at the University of Barcelona.

The objective of the 4D-Bioskin project is to perfect the value chain of biofabrication of 3D bioprinted tissues through the validation, scaling of production and marketing of autologous skin substitutes. In addition, the development of innovative therapy within the project, based on skin bioprinting, is a therapeutic alternative potential for the treatment of skin burns and wounds, will have a great impact on society and the health system.
