PERTE ‘Salud de Vanguardia’ will mobilize more than 1,469 million public and private investment by 2023

Pedro Sánchez, the Spanish president, has announced the strategic project for economic recovery and transformation (PERTE) ‘Salud de Vanguardia’. The project will mobilize 1,469 million public and private investment between 2021 and 2023.

Of the neraly 1.5 billion euros provided for in the project, about 982 million will come  from the public sector and at least 487 million directly from the private  sector. The aim of PERTE is to strengthen the National Health System and position Spain in the innovation and development of advanced therapies.

The PERTE structures around four main objectives and five strategic lines. The objectives are to promote the equitable implementation of Personalized Precision Medicine, to promote the development of advanced therapies and other innovative drugs, to develop an innovative data system and to promote the digital transformation of health care. The transversal lines specify the actions to achieve the strategic objectives, among which are the investment in the development, digitalisation  and modernization of the industrial capacity; and to deploy instruments  and structures that ensure collaboration and coordination between the scientific  and the business ecosystems.

The presentation took place at the Instituto de Salud Carlos III, led by president Sánchez, accompanied by the Minister of Science and Innovation, Diana Morant, the Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, and the Minister of Finance, María Jesus Montero.
