Horizon Europe, the European Union’s framework programme for investment in research and innovation for 2021-2027, has kicked off after being published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJ) on 12 May 2021.
Horizon Europe has a total budget of €95.5 billion, 30% more than its predecessor Horizon 2020.
The new programme has three main pillars:
Regulation (EU) 2021/695 establishes the rules for participation and dissemination and it applies retroactively from 1 January of this year.
This budget, along with the Next Generation EU temporary recovery instrument, is the largest stimulus package ever funded through the EU, with a total of €1.8 trillion.
Horizon Europe for companies in Catalonia
The Ministry of Science and Innovation has launched a Spanish website on Horizon Europe with updated information and CDTI a website with presentations and webinars.
Additionally, to explain the various calls that will be opening soon, ACCIÓ is hosting Horizon Europe Week, from 31 May to 4 June, with a webinars specifically about the EIC Accelerator and the Horizon Europe for health sector.
