The CEO Councils, reinforcing the health sector as strategic in Catalan industry

Comunicació,

This 2024, two CEO Council meetings have been held and the date for the next one is already set for July 4th, with Vanessa Servera (Institut Català de Finances) as the special guest. What makes these sessions special? They are small group talks held in practe, where CEOs and members of startup and CataloniaBio & HealthTech company boards can participate and engage directly with the guest speakers, a high-level expert, whether business leaders or political decision-makers, with whom they can share experiences and strategic perspectives for their companies and the sector.

In the two sessions held this year, around sixty people attended the two meeting, figures that have been growing over the last two years, who have been able to meet and discuss with Oriol Pinya and Raquel Yotti. At the very beginning of the year, with Oriol Pinya, we posed, shared and tried to identify what are the challenges and opportunities that 2024 poses for us in terms of investment, starting from the global forecasts and focusing attention on the healthcare sector. Pinya is the President of SpainCap, co-founder of Abac Capital and Vice-President of Barcelona Global and FemCat. In the second edition, with Raquel Yotti as the special guest and Commissioner for the PERTE for Advanced Healthcare at the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, we were able to delve deeper into the coordination of the national strategic initiative, the Strategic Project for Economic Transformation and Recovery - PERTE, focused on Precision Medicine, Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMP), digitalisation of healthcare and artificial intelligence.

Last year, the CEO Council sessions featured names such as Antón Costas, President of the Economic and Social Council; Boi Ruiz, President of Know How Advisors; Núria Mas, Professor of Economics at IESE; Xavier Prats, President of the Patronage of the Hospital de Sant Pau; and Javier Ponce, Director General of the CDTI. These sessions started to be organised in 2017, a time when Catalonia already had a consolidated business fabric in life sciences and health, as well as a constantly growing entrepreneurial ecosystem. In addition to the presentation of topics of interest, the CEO Council also helps to strengthen the relationships within this valuable collective for the ecosystem.

The next CEO Council is on Thursday, 4th July with Vanessa Servera, CEO of the Catalan Finance Institute, with registrations now open. Save the date for the following one, after the summer break, will be on 18th September, with Josep Maria Argimon as the guest.
