Research institutions and hospitals create the Barcelona Alzheimer HUB

Comunicació,

The main public hospitals and institutions specialized in Alzheimer's research in the city of Barcelona, including the Hospital de Sant Pau, the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, the Hospital del Mar and the Barcelonaβeta Brain Research Center (BBRC), all members of CATALONIA.HEALTH, have created the Barcelona Alzheimer's HUB.

In the presentation held in Barcelona, some of the key activities that the Hub has already carried out were detailed, such as the organization of the first Conference on the “Challenges and opportunities in the implementation of biological therapies for Alzheimer’s”, the first call for collaborative predoctoral scholarships, aimed at promoting cooperative research among the member centers of the HUB, and training actions to improve the diagnosis and management of the disease in Primary Care, developed in collaboration with CAMFiC (Catalan Society of Family and Community Medicine).

In the event where this milestone was announced, the mayor of Barcelona Jaume Collboni, commented, “Barcelona has set out to actively contribute to the fight against Alzheimer’s. This is a city issue, and that is why, with the support of the City Council, the main institutes and research centres on disease in the city, which are global benchmarks, come together to collaborate, unite talent and resources. Today we are sending a message of unity in favour of science. I’m sure that this Barcelona union will bring promising discoveries that will bring us closer to finding a cure for Alzheimer’s.”
