mjn-neuro leads the development of an out-of-hospital, portable system for EEG recordings

Comunicació,

The VISOR EEG project, led by mjn-neuro, is developing an out-of-hospital and portable system for prolonged EEG recordings in patients with epilepsy and other neurological disorders. The main objective is the design and development of a system consisting of three devices capable of recording a patient's brain activity in an easy and quick way to install and configure.

The Girona-based company mjn-neuro, a member of CataloniaBio & HealthTech, has been one of the beneficiary startups of the Ministry of Science and Innovation project, Public-Private Collaboration 2021 (CPP2021-008311). Together with Synaptia Health Projects, Grup IIIA CSIC of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), IIB Sant Pau, Grup eXiT of the UdG (University of Girona), Laboratori de Gràfics i Imatges (GILAB) of the UdG (University of Girona) and Fundación Iniciativas para las Neurociencias (FINCE).

The VISOR EEG (Holter EEG recording device) project has a budget of 1.2 million euros and aims to create an out-of-hospital Holter EEG recording system using portable, discreet and non-invasive devices, so that the patient can carry out daily life activities while the brain's electrical activity is recorded, in an easier and more comfortable way for the patient, allowing prolonged recordings over time. In addition, this system will provide the analysis of quantitative and qualitative characteristics of the EEG signal using artificial intelligence algorithms.

The clinical study planned in this project aims to obtain clinical validation from EEG analysis tests with artificial intelligence software and algorithms to out-of-hospital tests that allow the system to be tested in patients' real lives.
