Medichem becomes a B Corp company for its commitment to sustainability

The pharmaceutical company Medichem, a member of Catalonia.health, have earned B Corp certification, awarded by B Lab. With this recognition, Medichem joins a global movement of companies that meet high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and corporate accountability. By meeting the B Corp standards, the group reaffirms its purpose of generating a positive impact on society and the environment.

B Corp standards assess performance across five key areas: Governance, Workers, Community, Environment, and Customers. To achieve certification, companies must score a minimum of 80 points, providing solid evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices. Medichem achieved a score of 98.4, significantly surpassing the required minimum and earning recognition for its excellence in sustainability.

Strong corporate governance and a responsible supply chain were key factors in attaining B Corp certification. Medichem demonstrated board diversity and independence, as well as transparency in performance and ethical business conduct, including responsible practices throughout its supply chain.

From an environmental perspective, Medichem has calculated its carbon footprint across scopes 1, 2, and 3, and implemented reduction strategies. The company is currently in the process of setting emissions reduction targets aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). It is also actively engaged in energy efficiency projects, circular economy initiatives, and responsible water use, further solidifying its commitment to sustainability and business excellence.

By becoming a B Corp, Medichem strengthens  its position as a trusted partner in the pharmaceutical industry, gaining multiple advantages.
