IGTP and DevsHealth join forces to develop new antibiotics against hospital infections

Roser Montserrat,

DevsHealth and Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP), both members of CataloniaBio & HealthTechhave announced a new collaboration to develop new antibiotics for multi-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infections.

With this project, DevsHealth will have the opportunity to work with a massive data analysis to find new mechanisms of action that can prevent or overcome resistance. In addition, it will use its DeepTech platform, which integrates artificial intelligence (AI), real-world data and molecular modeling to carry out an in-silico drug discovery process in just a few days.

DevsHealth and IGTP will work together in the discovery phase of the project and, in the future, will continue with the preclinical and clinical development of the selected candidates. The collaboration is in line with DevsHealth’s vision of industrializing drug development and building the largest portfolio of infectious diseases.

"We are very excited to collaborate with the IGTP, a recognized research center with great experience in infectious diseases and a valuable collection of bacterial strains. This collaboration will allow us to apply our DeepTech platform to a challenging and important problem and accelerate the discovery of new drugs against multi-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infections. We believe that this collaboration will bring us closer to our goal of providing innovative and effective solutions for patients who need it," says Alfons Nonell-Canals, CEO of DevsHealth.

"We are pleased to collaborate with DevsHealth, a pioneering drug discovery company promoted by AI, and contribute to its portfolio of infectious diseases projects. We believe that this collaboration will take advantage of the synergy of our expertise and combined resources, facilitating the discovery of new treatments for a critical threat to public health. We are sure that this collaboration will lead to successful results and will open the way for future joint initiatives", explains Noemí Párraga, researcher at the Clinical and Environmental Study Group of Infectious Diseases (CEID) of the IGTP and leader of the project.
