CataloniaBio & HealthTech, powered by the Internal Digital Committee, organised a round table at the 2024 edition of the Health Revolution Congress, the digital health congress promoted by BHH that brings together global startups and stakeholders in Barcelona to explore the digital health solutions of the future. More than thirty people filled the room, a full house showing the interest on the sessions.

In the ‘CataloniaBio & HealthTech Room’ the session began at 3pm, with a round table focused on the implementation of digital health solutions, in which some use cases and their adoption were discussed in depth. Moderated by Anna Nicolau (Chief Product Officer, Neuroelectrics), the panel discussed and commented on the difficulties that companies have encountered when implementing use cases in digital health, as well as adopting the point of view of a decision-maker or adopter of these solutions, advising on best practices for developing a successful use case.

The main difficulties encountered in the adoption of use cases were reviewed from both points of view, as well as how these barriers differ depending on whether they involve the implementation of stable or disruptive technologies. There was space for sharing good practices and strategies to overcome these difficulties and barriers, in the cases of DyCare (Ricardo Jauregui, CTO and co-founder) and IOMED (Rohit Mistry, CEO). The contributions from the stakeholders' point of view, Izabel Alfany (Managing Director, EIT Health) and Francesc Xavier Cos (Innovation & Research Officer, Institut Català de la Salut), were along the lines of how we can collaborate from the environment to overcome these barriers. All of this, with the help of real examples of use cases in which the difficulties have been overcome and with an eye on future trends.

After the coffee break, the second round table took place, organised by the BIP Group: ‘The present and future of AI and Generative AI and other innovations in the health sector’. The aim was to discuss the current uses and potential of AI/Generative AI and other digital solutions in the life sciences sector, especially applied to the areas of sales, market access, medical issues and marketing, including their ability to respond to the evolving challenges they will face in the future. Moderated by Francisco Sierra (Life Sciences Partner, BIP Group), the speakers Sergio Cortés (Ferrer), Jorge Pou (GSK), Paolo Cionini (Almirall) and Miguel Lancha (Astrazeneca), detailed cases of the use of AI in large corporations, as applied in, for example, process automation, efficient drug distribution, robotics in packaging... Also looking to the future, they reviewed what challenges there are to explore in the field of AI, such as its implementation in sustainability, the challenge posed by data management... And, finally, the implementation and adoption of new regulations and legislation.

‘We are very pleased to have participated by contributing content to the congress and that it has had this response. For CataloniaBio & HealthTech it is important to give visibility to companies in the digital area, which continue to gain weight within the association, as well as all the initiatives promoted by the internal committee of the digital area", says Genís Victoria, coordinator of the CataloniaBio & HealthTech Internal Digital Committee. Among the activities promoted by the committee this year were a Lessons Learned on cybersecurity, presence at the MWC and synergies with other entities in the sector, such as the recent collaboration with the DCA, among others.
