The pharmaceutical industry focuses the conversation at the last edition of the CEO Council

Full house at the Hub Cambra Digital de Barcelona for the last edition of the CEO Council of 2024, with Elisabeth Stampa as a special guest. Mariona Serra, President of CATALONIA.HEALTH, gave the welcome speech at this year's fifth and last edition of these small committee meetings exclusively for CATALONIA.HEALTH members.

Stampa, who holds a degree in Pharmacy and a Master's degree in Business Management, began her career at Laboratoris Esteve. She later became CEO of the family business Combino Pharm and Medichem SA. She is currently President of the Board of Directors of Medichem and President of Medicines for Europe, the Brussels-based association representing the pharmaceutical industry of generic, biosimilar and value-added medicines throughout Europe.

During the session, she shared his perspective on various current issues in the sector, starting with the role of Medicines for Europe in Europe and its efforts to prioritise European challenges. He also reviewed the complexities of pharmaceutical manufacturing and global supply chains; the dynamics of the pharmaceutical market, including branded and generic medicines; critical issues such as drug pricing pressures and the shortage of some medicines. She also raised some other topics for discussion, such as some reflections and situations in the European and US pharmaceutical markets, as well as regulatory challenges and trends in innovation.

As usual, the session concluded with an open debate between the guest and the attendees to comment on and assess what had been raised in the initial presentation. The Q&A was moderated by Joan Puig, vice-president of CATALONIA.HEALTH, who was also in charge of closing the event.
