Eurecat wins the National Congress of Entrepreneurial Scientists Award

Comunicació,

The technology centre Eurecat, a member of Catalonia.health, has received the IX National Congress of Entrepreneurial Scientists award for the development of a 3D-printed vascular stent.

The device, which is used to keep blood vessels open in cardiovascular procedures, has been recognised as an example of entrepreneurial science that is transforming Spain.

Antonio Guerra, the researcher responsible for Eurecat's Biomedical Manufacturing Technologies line, has led the ST3DT project, which consists of tubular 3D stereolithography, defined as ‘the first 3D-printed bioinert hybrid stent’.

The idea, which originated at the University of Girona and has been incubated at the Eurecat technology centre, will begin the first in vivo trials in January 2026, after passing the laboratory validation stage with positive results.
