Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR), a member of Catalonia.health, and Prous Institute for Biomedical Research have signed a three-year collaboration agreement to promote high-impact research projects that form part of or are in the selection phase of the VHIR's innovation portfolio.
The aim of this strategic agreement is to promote initiatives with great biomedical potential which, despite their innovative value, lack sufficient financial resources in their early stages of development. Areas of interest include the development of new drugs, medical devices and digital health solutions, as well as new therapies and diagnostic technologies.
The collaboration will be carried out through the FIT Programme (Technological Promotion Fund), designed to provide financial support to high-risk innovative projects and facilitate their effective transfer to the market. Upon signing the agreement, Prous Institute commits to making a sustained financial contribution during the three years of the agreement to promote and strengthen the FIT Programme.
Prous Institute will not only participate as a funding entity but will also form part of the network of mentors for VHIR's Innovation and Business Development department, which will enable the optimisation of the selection and support processes for the initiatives supported. In addition, the collaboration will promote the establishment of cooperation networks between researchers, institutions and the private sector, facilitating the creation of synergies that enhance the success of the projects.
Rafael Navajo, Director of Innovation and Business Development at VHIR, explains: “This agreement reflects VHIR's firm commitment to strengthening relationships and creating new synergies between public and private entities, thus promoting innovation and knowledge transfer activities derived from research projects.”
Begoña Benito, Director of VHIR, concludes that: “With this alliance, VHIR and Prous Institute consolidate their position as key players in the biomedical research ecosystem, committing to a model of public-private collaboration that drives innovation and accelerates the arrival of scientific advances in society.”
