The Vall de Hebron Research Institute (VHIR), a member of CATALONIA.HEALTH, has obtained ISO 56001:2024 certification, which certifies excellence in innovation management. They also become the first biomedical research institution in Catalonia and one of the first institutions in Spain to obtain the certification.

The ISO 56001 standard establishes the requirements for an integrated innovation management system, aligned with international best practices. This milestone recognises VHIR's firm commitment to foster a structured, sustainable and results-oriented innovation culture to bring value to society and the health system.

Rafael Navajo, Director of Innovation at VHIR, highlights that “this certification not only recognises the work we are doing but also drives our system towards a more mature model, with defined processes, clear metrics and a real focus on impact. It is a step forward to consolidate innovation as a strategic axis of our institute”.
