The Barça Innovation Hub (BIHUB) has become a shareholder of Genomcore, a member of CATALONIA.HEALTH. The startup is recognised as a leader in the management of bio-health data for personalised medicine, with a team made up of clinical staff, biologists and highly experienced engineers. In this new venture, the BIHUB enters the company's share capital together with QVIDTVM, a long-term investment company in innovative organisations in the United States and Europe, which is providing a round of 5 million euros in funding.
This investment will enable Genomcore to accelerate the development of Genomcore's Biomedical Information Management System (BIMS), a pioneering platform designed to address one of the most important challenges in healthcare: the seamless integration and secure, scalable management of different health data modalities.
Genomcore provides the BIHUB and FC Barcelona with this platform, facilitating the collection and interpretation of data for greater personalisation of sports medicine. This will allow FC Barcelona to structure and analyse performance and injury prevention data in an optimal way, consolidating its leadership in sports innovation.
Since February, the BIHUB has also been a shareholder in Made of Genes, a Genomcore spinoff that applies artificial intelligence techniques to integrate biological markers into personalised health. With this investment, Genomcore becomes the eighth startup in the BIHUB portfolio, including another member of CATALONIA.HEALTH, Onalabs.
According to Óscar Flores Guri, CEO of Genomcore, ‘the exponential growth of health data presents immense opportunities, but also unparalleled complexity. With this funding we are solving one of the most urgent problems in healthcare: integrating diverse data modalities securely, efficiently and at scale. This investment is a key step in our mission to democratise health data globally, making precision medicine accessible to all.
