On 8th April, the Council of Ministers gave the green light to the reform of the state's pharmaceutical legislation, a new Law of Medicines and Health Products that is currently under discussion and is expected to be approved before the end of the year. For this reason, Catalonia.health, in collaboration with LLYC, organises an online informative session that serves as an introduction to the changes in pharmaceutical legislation at European and Spanish levels, with a special focus on orphan drugs. As European pharmaceutical legislation undergoes significant changes and Spain prepares to introduce the new Medicines Law, it is essential to understand the potential implications for companies.

Some of the topics that will be addressed during the webinar are:

• Introduction to access to innovation in Europe.
• What happens in Brussels? Basic aspects of the modification of European pharmaceutical legislation.
• What happens in Spain? The main changes in the preliminary draft of the Law on Medicines and Health Products.
• How the possible changes will affect incentives for orphan drugs.

Speakers:

• Carlos Parry, European Healthcare Senior Director (LLYC). Carlos has extensive experience in the field of health; he has worked in both the public and private sectors. It stands out for its passage through the Ministry of Health or the European Parliament, as well as in important companies in the pharmaceutical sector such as Merck and AstraZeneca.
• Pablo García-Berdoy, Europe Public Affairs Lead (LLYC). Pablo is a prestigious expert in European political, institutional, and regulatory affairs. A diplomat since 1987, he has devoted most of his career to working in European affairs. He has been Director General of European Foreign Policy (2002-04), Ambassador of Spain to Romania and Moldova (2005-09), Ambassador to Germany (2012-16), and Ambassador Permanent Representative to the European Union (2016-21).
