The last edition of the study on investment in the health sector pointed to a global recovery of the economy and to a substantial growth in this sector, which plays an increasingly important role in the economy of our region. After the stagnation of investment in health in 2022, this reactivation offers good prospects. In this context, experts indicate that attention should be focused on the prospect of an increase in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activity in companies in the health sector: pharmaceuticals, medtech, biotech and digital health.
But what is in the acronym M&A? In which ways can companies and their assets be bought, consolidated or combined with another company? How are these mergers and acquisitions carried out? Are there any particularities to consider in the health sector?
At the next CATALONIA.HEALTH Lessons Learned, we have invited 5 professionals who have gone through this process successfully, and who will share their knowledge and practices to achieve the completion of this process, in addition to their personal vision. We want to address both sides: the perspective of companies that have acquired and the overview of the company that has been acquired. Through first-hand testimonies we will discover some success stories and learn about aspects that can be key to successfully carry out this type of operation. Both for startups, SMEs or large companies that are considering starting the process of acquisition or may be merged, and for those that are at the beginning of this process, it is important to consider how to approach this new situation, know the different possibilities and opportunities that may arise or in which the company may find itself.
