Medical technology company Vitalera, a member of CATALONIA.HEALTH, achieved a significant milestone by successfully completing the rigorous re-classification process to MDR Class IIa certification.

The venture capital company Invivo Partners, a member of CATALONIA.HEALTH, announced the closing of a €20 million Series A financing round for the biotechnology company Neumirna Therapeutics.

The call for the eleventh edition of the CATALONIA.HEALTH Award is now open. Previously known as Bioèxit Award, the recognition joins the change of the association's brand and adapts the name to include all sector actors.

The biomedical consulting firm GENESIS Biomed, member of CATALONIA.HEALTH, will close in 2024 with an accumulated turnover of 9 million euros since the start of its activity in 2017. In addition, it has developed a total of 385 projects for 220 clients. 

The Digital Catalonia Alliance (DCA) has held a new edition of matchmaking, the DCA's service for generating connections between alliance members and organisations seeking new technological solutions. This last edition of the event once again counted on the collaboration of CATALONIA.HEALTH, as well as the Fundació Tic Salut Social, in order to boost the participation of the health sector and to detect new challenges and facilitate connections with DCA companies.

The medical diagnostics company Deepull, member of CATALONIA.HEALTH, announced that they have received the Breakthrough Device Designation from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its UllCORE Bloodstream Infection (BSI) Test. 

The main public hospitals and institutions specialized in Alzheimer's research in the city of Barcelona, including the Hospital de Sant Pau, the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, the Hospital del Mar and the Barcelonaβeta Brain Research Center (BBRC), all members of CATALONIA.HEALTH, have created the Barcelona Alzheimer's HUB.  

The EndoPath project of the company specialized in the development of innovative solutions for gynecological diagnosis MiMark Diagnostics, member of CATALONIA.HEALTH, has been selected in the InnoBuyer Open Call for EIC Solvers.

SpliceBio, a genetic medicines company pioneering Protein Splicing to address diseases caused by mutations in large genes, announced that the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared its investigational new drug (IND) application for lead program SB-007. SB-007 is the only clinical-stage therapeutic addressing the root genetic cause of Stargardt disease with the potential to treat all patients across all ABCA4 mutations. SpliceBio is a member of CATALONIA.HEALTH.

Vitalera, medtech company and a member of CATALONIA.HEALTH, has announced a new milestone in the evolution of healthcare service delivery, offering support to 300 potential cardiac rehabilitation patients with its advanced remote patient monitoring (RPM) solution. This pioneering initiative is being carried out in collaboration with a new partner, Daiichi Sankyo Spain, which is transforming the way this care is delivered in a project at the Hospital General Universitario Doctor Balmis (Alicante).

Almirall is celebrating its 80th anniversary, marking eight decades of commitment to patients, innovation, and healthcare advancement. To commemorate this milestone, the company hosted an institutional event at its R&D centre in Barcelona, Spain. The event brought together health authorities, partners and institutional representatives, including the President of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Salvador Illa, Juan Cruz Cigudosa, Secretary of State for Science, Innovation, and Universities, together with other personalities and representatives, including members of the board of CATALONIA.HEALTH, of which they are members.

The Barça Innovation Hub (BIHUB) has become a shareholder of Genomcore, a member of CATALONIA.HEALTH. The startup is recognised as a leader in the management of bio-health data for personalised medicine, with a team made up of clinical staff, biologists and highly experienced engineers. In this new venture, the BIHUB enters the company's share capital together with QVIDTVM, a long-term investment company in innovative organisations in the United States and Europe, which is providing a round of 5 million euros in funding.

The venture capital company Ysios Capital, member of CATALONIA.HEALTH, participates in the Series B financing round of 135 million dollars of its investee company Adcendo.

The biopharmaceutical company AELIX Therapeutics, member of CATALONIA.HEALTH, has announced that the US biotech company Gilead Sciences, Inc. has acquired the research assets related to its therapeutic HTI vaccine against HIV.

The technology platform Gate2Brain, member of CATALONIA.HEALTH, has received the Orphan Drug Designation (ODD) from the European Medicines Agency (EMA) for its innovative product, G2B-002.  

The association has launched two internal committees this 2024, the Internal Talent Committee and the Internal Shared Value Committee, two areas on which the members had pointed out the need to work as a necessity in the health sector in Catalonia. Both were launched just before the summer and join the three that have already been active for some time: the Internal Committees on Innovation, Digital and Business Development.

The biotechnological company ADmit Therapeutics, member of CATALONIA.HEALTH, receives an accreditation from the Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), based on results of a recent on-site inspection as part of the CAP’s Accreditation Programs.
