Vitalamember of CataloniaBio & HealthTech, is one of the three Catalan startups to be among the first to access ACCIÓ Startup Capital co-investment line for 'deeptech' startups, launched in 2023 with a total budget of 2.5 million euros.

Vitala, Blue Box, and Ysotope are the three emerging companies dedicated to the field of health and life sciences. Representatives from these companies held a working meeting this Tuesday with the Secretary of Business and Competitiveness and CEO of ACCIÓ, Albert Castellanos, at the agency's headquarters.

After the meeting, Castellanos stated, "With this instrument, we aim to take a step further in promoting the deeptech startup sector in Catalonia, leveraging the experience of venture capital funds and business angels: for every private investment euro the company secures, ACCIÓ allocates an additional euro." The secretary emphasized, "With this program, we want to ensure the survival of deeptech startups once they have passed the initial phases and are mature enough to access private capital funds, mobilize more investments from these funds, and provide more expertise and knowledge to deeptech companies, which are typically founded by professionals from the world of science and technology."

Vitala has patented technology that allows it to visualize the movement of a drug within the metabolic pathways of cells in high-definition movies. This technology, applied in the pre-clinical phase, increases the certainty of a drug's functionality, shortens development times, saves money, and reduces the use of animals for pre-clinical studies. Vitala launched its services this year and already has clients in Europe and in the country. As a spinoff of IBEC, they have a laboratory at the Barcelona Science Park. The startup has secured 99,575 euros in funding in this call.
